Lap-A-Thon
It's that time for every swimmer's favorite practice...
because you know we Marlins put the FUN in FUNDRAISING --
It's our annual LAP-A-THON!!
What: Lap-a-thon is our annual fundraiser where swimmers are challenged to swim as many laps as possible to raise donations that keep our amazing team running. Did you know that the Marlins swim team is a non-profit! That means that we count on our amazing sponsors and donations from events like this to help keep registration fees down, maintain our great location, and pay the best coaches in the business!
When: Lap-a-thon will be on Wednesday, June 11 during normal practice times.
How: How do you get donations? There are two popular ways swimmers can ask for donations from family and friends.
1. A flat rate donation where people can choose any amount they would like to contribute.
2. Amount per lap donations. This is a great way for swimmers to challenge themselves and have fun!
Here are this year's lap goals -- Let people know just how hard you are going to work for their donations:
6 & under - 50 laps
7-8 yrs - 75 lap
9yrs & up - 100 laps or more!
In your email, you will find a simple donation sheet to log any cash or check donations you collect. Please keep these at home until donations are due. There will be a folder for them at a later time.
To make things even easier, share this donation link or the QR code below with family & friends so they can donate right away!
This year we are using Zeffy - which allows the Marlins to keep 100% of the funds raised!
Be sure donors include your full name in the message portion before they complete the donation so you get credit for the donations! That’s how our swimmers earn prizes!
Donations will remain open until our championship meet but to earn those swimmer prizes, all donations need to be submitted by June 27.
How can families help? Our volunteers are the very best and to make this super fun day a huge success, we need a little help from our amazing Marlins families. It takes lots of food to fuel these athletes, so please bring an item to share. Prepackaged/Non-perishable items can be brought to practice starting Monday, June 9. Fresh bakery, produce or other perishable items can be delivered Wednesday, June 11.
If your Last Name begins with:
A-I: Donuts, pastries, or muffins
J-P: Fruit
Q-Z: Salty or savory snack
Please stay and count for our swimmers! Plan to come and help count laps. Counting sheets will be available and don’t forget, siblings, big swimmers, grandparents, and babysitters can help count too!

Congratulations to all of the swimmers who participated in lap-a-thon last season. We raised nearly $14,000. All of the money raised went towards managing our fantastic team.
This year we want to make this a team effort! We'll recognize the swimmers from each age group that has swum the most laps (male & female) as well as the overall funds raised by the team.
- MOST LAPS SWUM: The male and female from each age group who swam the most laps during Lap-a-thon received a medal.
-
TEAM PRIZES: The team can earn prizes as we reach every milestone!
- $5000 - Canes' meal certificate for EVERYONE
- $10,000 - Kona Ice will come to a practice
- $15,000 - If we reach our Fundraising Goal - it's movie night!
