Coach Appreciation Week:
It’s Coach Appreciation Week! We are collecting cards, pictures, letters, and goodies for all of our coaches. We have copies of the coaches favorites up at the entrance to the pool and are working on getting them uploaded to the website as well. There will be bins on the pool deck for each coach where you can leave your items.
Deadline for items: Friday, June 12.
Lap-a-thon:
On Wednesday this week we have our Lap-a-thon!
This is our season’s biggest fundraiser. During normal practice times, swimmers aim to swim as many laps as they can. We have prizes for most laps swum (for top boy & Girl in each age group), most funds raised, and then team prizes!
We need your help to count the laps. Please sign up here: https://bcmarlins.swimtopia.com/swim_meets/810471/shift_assignment
We are also requesting snack donations to help fuel the swimmers during lap-a-thon.
Last names starting:
- A-I - Donuts, pastries, or muffins
- J-P - Fruit
- Q-Z - salty or savory treats.

Note: Be sure donors include your full name in the message portion before they complete the donation so you get credit for the donations! That’s how our swimmers earn prizes!
Also check out the website for details on how to do corporate matching if your employer does that.

Volunteers:
Thank you to all of our volunteers, especially those who worked extra shifts, stepped in where needed, or took a shift temporarily while waiting for someone else to come. There are always last-minute cancellations due to sickness or unexpected schedule changes, and our parents step up to fill the gaps. Go team!
Reminders:
- Please sign up to volunteer for this Saturday and the following meets if you haven’t yet. Please don’t wait for me to assign you. We need every family to contribute as you committed to do when you registered. Cancel yourself if your plans have changed, and your child isn’t swimming. Let me know if you need special accommodation, and I will do my best to fit you in where you need to be. Thank you!
- Everyone must check in - volunteers and swimmers! Even if you are “unassigned but available.” Even if you are 2nd shift. If you are going to be late, TEXT LIZ (512-789-4133). If you have to cancel, EMAIL or TEXT LIZ as soon as you know. The check in time is listed in the meet email and posted in the meet schedule graphic. You also need to go to your meeting as appropriate (timer, judge/runner, ready bench) and check in with your lead volunteer or go to your area (tent parents, concessions, computers, ribbons, merchandise) and check in with your lead. The exception is parking and setup. You just meet with your lead and get to work. Thank you for arriving so early!
We are truly fortunate that our lead volunteers/board members do an amazing job communicating, training, organizing, and running our volunteer teams. Thank you Bob (timers), Sarah and Joy (judges), Michelle and Angus (ready bench), Courtney and Melissa (ribbons), Serena (tent parents), Michael and Matt (parking), Sasha (concessions), Kevin (setup and tear down), Nate (computers), and Renee (merchandise)!!
Divisionals Sign-up:
The sign-up for the Divisional Championship Meet on June 27 is now open to swimmers who have attended at least 2 swim meets. The Coaches would like every eligible swimmer to attend this meet if possible. Please declare if your swimmer is/is not attending this meet as soon as it is available to you. We currently have over 70 swimmers who have not declared! Please go in a declare so the coaches can start planning.

We will have a special limited Edition 50th Anniversary Marlins Christmas ornament for sale at the Merch tent this week! Stop by the Merch tent to take a look and buy one at this week’s meet.
Pre-orders for the men’s polo is now over. These can be picked up at the Merchandise tent on June 20.

Meet 5 Activity: Splash of Support: make a poster to cheer for your big/little swimmer.
Marlins Board:
The Brushy Creek Marlins is run by a board of volunteers. They ensure that the team is able to operate by coordinating with the MUD on our pool contract, to planning and organizing all the events, activities, and swim meets, to securing sponsors and fundraising opportunities, to ensuring we have the proper, functioning equipment, and working with the Swim Circuit, With the way that our bylaws are set up, our volunteers can only hold a position for a maximum of 2 years. We will have several openings at the end of the season, and are looking for people who are wanting to step up and help the team. Meetings are once a month, however exact time commitment does vary depending on the role. If you are interested in learning more about serving on our board, please contact our President, Margit Dennon ( [email protected]).
Swim Meet Lost & Found:
If your swimmer has lost anything during a swim meet, they can look for it at Fun Friday this week!
If your swimmer has lost something at practice, have them check the pool’s lost and found which is in the lifeguard office (ask the lifeguards).
End of year Celebration:
Details coming soon but you can add your photos to the photo slide show at the following link that will play at the end of year Celebration on Tuesday, June 30.
